Style Guide

This website is built with a hybrid theme using custom components via the WordPress Block Editor for content management.

Required Plugins. These plugins should never be deactivated.

Page Guidelines

Default Page Template. Pages are contructed using the default page template. Page templates are the outer shell of the page, combining page layout, site header, and site footer.

Color Theme. By default each page displays a site navigation with black text. For unique page color combinations, a dark theme may be selected that displays the site navigation in white text. The selection is in the page settings sidebar under Page.

Site Navigation. Navigation is managed via the standard WordPress menu system located in Appearance -> Menus.

  • Primary Menu. The primary navigation that appears in the site header, site footer, and mobile menu.

Component Guidelines

Content components are the primary tool for adding page content. They are added inside the page using the WordPress Block Editor. Below are the the custom components created for Notdev.com. Standard WordPress Blocks may also be used. But care should be taken to preview changes before publishing.

To ease content creation, this theme is provisioned with several pre-defined design patterns. Open the WordPress Block Inserter Menu and click Patterns to see available patterns.

Topper – Text. This component displays a large, text-only, site topper.

Topic List. This component displays a list of custom topic teasers.
