The navigation experience needed to work across a wide range of hardware: multiple screen sizes, aspect ratios, and resolutions. Beyond in-dash displays, the system also extended into heads-up displays, where legibility and minimalism were critical. Our team created a flexible design language that adapted gracefully no matter the environment.

Route planning brought a unique set of UI challenges: merging search, voice input, and points of interest into one coherent experience. Our team created a layered card system for POIs, built to surface the right level of detail depending on context, while ensuring consistent behavior across inputs. The result is a planning flow that feels natural and predictable, whether the driver is tapping on screen, speaking a request, or reviewing their route in the HUD.

With Toyota’s increasing investment in electric vehicles, charging was a core focus. We integrated real-time EV insights into the routing experience, showing projected battery levels at the end of a trip and providing interfaces for active charging sessions. This ensured drivers had confidence in both their journey and their charging strategy.
