Since 2018, our team has been fully embedded within Toyota Motor North America, collaborating across the organization to shape both consumer- and enterprise-facing software. We partner with design, product, IT, operations, and dealership stakeholders to deliver seamless digital experiences — from managing inventory to servicing vehicles, bolting on parts, and streamlining back-office workflows.

Designing tools to manage, connect, and sell vehicles
One of the first areas we focused on was inventory — the backbone of Toyota’s retail ecosystem. Our work has spanned everything from inventory management systems to pre-order tools to vision work for Build and Price, helping consumers see exactly what’s available and how to configure their future vehicles. We also helped oversee the design of SmartPath, Toyota’s official digital retail program that gives dealers a modern, brand-owned alternative to outdated third-party dealer websites. SmartPath includes the Management Sales Tool (MST), which was created to enable both guided and self-guided online shopping, and Console, Toyota’s desking tool for sales managers. While early iterations were designed externally, we helped guide, review, and eventually take ownership of the work, ensuring a unified design language and consistent user experience. Today, these inventory tools form the connective tissue between consumer browsing, dealer operations, and Toyota’s national retail strategy.

Our work extends into Toyota’s parts ecosystem, where we’ve helped design both consumer and dealer-facing solutions. On the consumer side, we contributed to the Parts Center Online, a platform that makes it easier for drivers to search for and order the right parts. On the dealer side, we developed tools that streamline backend operations, from monitoring inventory levels to placing new orders and adjusting pricing. By modernizing these processes, we’ve reduced friction across logistics and helped strengthen the connection between Toyota, its dealers, and its customers.

Enhancing the service journey for both drivers and dealers
Service has been another key area of collaboration. We designed a consumer-facing scheduling tool that allows vehicle owners to book maintenance appointments with ease, creating a smoother and more transparent service journey.
For dealers, we helped build Signal, a platform that leverages richer data to enable more proactive engagement with customers throughout their vehicle lifecycle. Together with enhancements to SmartPath for Service, these tools have transformed the way Toyota and its dealers connect with drivers after the sale, improving both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

We also worked on platforms that manage franchise agreements and compliance, giving Toyota greater clarity and control across its dealer network. These back-office systems, though less visible to customers, are critical to the overall health of the business and have been elevated through thoughtful design.
